Healthy Snack Ideas for your Child’s Sport Teams

This post, Healthy Snack Ideas for your Child’s Sport Teams, is sponsored by BODYARMOR. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Our family has been a part of a some sort of team for ten years now. Wow! With three boys who all love to play different sports, we are always sitting at practice or watching a game. Right now it is summer baseball and my car is permanently crammed with my wagon to cart all the gear, umbrella for shade, chairs to sit in, backpacks to carry, and extra clothes to wear. Don’t let me forget about the gallons of water and sports drinks to keep hydrated.

At the start of each season the coach or one of the moms in charge passes out a snack schedule where we each take turns to bring the after game snack. You know how it goes. The kids LOVE this part. Most of the time the snack is not very nutritious, but when it’s our turn. I make sure it is!

Here are my healthy snack ideas for your child’s sport teams.

Fresh Fruit. This is my fav if there is a snack you need mid-game, like half time for soccer. Cut up orange wedges, bring small piles of grapes or buy tiny apples. Slicing up melons or pineapple is fine too, just remember the toothpicks for grabbing.

Squeezes. Applesauce packets are the most common. Another great one is the Mamma Chia squeeze. It tastes like liquid jello and the kids slurp it up. Organic yogurt tubes from Stonyfield is a yummy too, but you have to keep it cold.

Popcorn, Pretzels or Pirate Booty. At our house, this is our most common snack to bring because you can buy them in individual bags and everyone seems happy to get them.

BODYARMOR Sports Drinks. I used to bring organic juice as a treat. My boys would beg me to buy Gatorade like all the parents do, but I wouldn’t. Happy there is finally a healthier alternative sports drink that I feel good about!
