Book Family Fun Giveaway

My Top Rated Books of 2016

I’ve always been a reader. Even on my busiest days I can’t fall asleep unless I’ve read a few pages at night. My topics are a huge mix, but as my hubby just pointed out I do read a lot of YA Fantasy. I also really like Historical Fiction. I use Goodreads to keep track of what I read and check out ratings of a book to decide what I want to read next. I was curious today so I checked out my Top Rated Books of 2016 and decided to share them with you. I always read suggestions from my friends first!

Feel free to follow me on Goodreads here – and let me know you did below so I can be sure to follow back.

These links are for Amazon, but I recommend looking at Goodreads ratings too because I think they are way better, which is why I like having Friends there. Understand that I almost never give a book 5 stars. It has to really hold my constant attention and I have to say Wow when I finish.

Morning Star by Pierce Brown. Final #3 in the Red Rising series.

  • I'll put off deciding on one of these until after I, with luck, win. I haven't read any of them, but I do recommend "The Paper Man" by Gallagher Lawson, "Monkey Business" by Landon Crutcher, and "Palestine" and "Footnotes In Gaza" by Joe Sacco.
  • I have not read any of these yet but would like too. My first read would be Angels Walking by Karen Kingsbury.
  • I haven't read any of those books but I did pick up and read something in the Ender's Game series my kiddos had checked out this summer.
  • I have not read any of these books which surprises me as I am an avid reader. I do read a lot of history or historical fiction though. Would love to read Where She Went and the entire series.
  • No. I have not yet read any of the listed books. I would enjoy ome of them. I mostly like reading nonfiction and memoir so I would recommend anything in this category.
  • I'm a library so I've heard of them, but I haven't read them. I would like to read several. Thanks.
  • I haven't read any of these but I'd like to read any of the 5 star books! Would have to start with the 1st books in the series though! :-)
  • I have read 3 on your list: Lilac Girls (so good!), Orange is the New Black (interesting!), and Three Cups of Tea - a long time ago but I remember thinking it was good! I used to read a lot more YA when I taught middle school.... now I seem to focus more on historical fiction or... I'm not sure WHAT to call it but maybe "modern drama"? hahah
  • Right now Im reading Robin Roberts book. I recommend it. I won the John Grisham ya book set and Im giving them to my niece for her 13th bday this month. They look like good books. Thank you for the chance
  • I have read Orange is the New Black and loved it! I am a huge fan of the show and wanted to know what was actually real. Good read!
  • I haven't read any of these! I have so many favorite books...I just got the Magnolia Story and I'm excited to read it!
  • i am surprised that i haven't read any of these! however, i have read if i stay but didn't read where she went because i had heard it wasn't as good. i have seen the tv show/movies for some of these, too. the best book i read this year was 'the wolf road'. i just loved it.
  • I haven't read any of these. I published my top 7 list yesterday (I didn't read a ton because a couple of the books were those 5 pound nonfiction tomes that take months to read). My top pick for the year was The Fourth Turning, and second on the list was The Fifth Wave (first book only... the last two books, to me, weren't as good). Unfortunately, when I made the list, I forgot that I had read The Hiding Place for the first time last year... and that deserves a place up in the top 3, at the very least. So even though the last one didn't make my "official" list, it is one of the best books I read last year. I think for this year, I need to keep track of the books I read better.
  • All the books look awesome! I really would like to read Where She Went. I read If I Stay and thought that it was really good.
  • Not read any of these. Come rain or come shine looks promising. If you like Amish reads, I recently read "The Wish" by Beverly Lewis which was interesting. And I'm a big fan of the Snow Valley Series.
  • Love getting suggestions for new authors and series. I usually have one or 2 paperbacks and a book on my kindle going all the time. Read all the time!!!!
  • I have not read any of these. I prefer horror, usually zombie but I am always open to reading fantasy, fiction. I don't like non fiction.
  • I liked the Lunar Chronicles series very much. Just didn't like having to wait for the next book in the series. Thanks for the contest.
  • My oldest has red the first three books in lunar chronicles since she found them at her school library in 7th grade. My 12 year old is nuts over anything by Rick rioridian and is getting into the land of stories series currently.
  • I have not read any of these yet...what a GREAT list! So many to add to my TBR list for this year! I am always looking for new great books and authors!
  • The best books that I read in 2016 were: THE MARTIAN by Andy Weir NEVERNIGHT by Jay Kristoff A MONSTER CALLS by Patrick Ness THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN by Paula Hawkins
  • Quite a few were already on my to-read list. I recommend The History of Love, Madonnas of Leningrad, The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, The Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, and Alice's Tulips.
