Dark Hope: Book 1 of the Archangel Prophecies by Monica McGurk Giveaway
C’Man and I have read quite a few books now with angels as the main characters. Mostly they are kids who find out they are angels and you know what? We really like them! We were happy to test out Dark Hope which is the first book in the new Archangel Prophecies series. This time it was a tad different – Archangel Michael was the one who was disguised as a teenager.
For years, Hope Carmichael, survivor of a shocking child abduction, has lived a sheltered existence under the protection of her fanatically religious father. Now, liberated by her mother, Hope prepares to start life over as a normal kid in an Atlanta, Georgia, high school. Normal, that is, until Hope meets Michael, a gorgeous emancipated teen with a mysterious past and a strong interest in her.
I let my twelve year old dive in first and he had his nose buried reading for a few days and then bam he was done! He came to me saying he was ready for the next one in the series.
His thoughts – I thought it was a good book. I liked how it was set up. My favorite character was Michael because he fought off the dark angels. I’m excited to find out what happens next. It was my turn to read.
I love reading the same books as my kids!
My thoughts – I do think that it is great fun to read biblical fiction and see how authors put their imaginations to work. The only problem is when it is hard to believe. Michael, the great and powerful archangel, a moody and in love teenager who spent all his time with one girl instead of doing God’s duties? hmmmmm. There were parts I had to roll my eyes, but overall I can completely see why my pre-teen thought it was a fascinating read full of adventure!
