America’s Best Beach

I bet you wouldn’t believe that my favorite monthly magazine is Coastal Living. I’m teasing you here of course as I love dreaming about decorating my someday-beach-house and this magazine is full of inspiration. I also dream about traveling and checking out all of the best beach spots around the world. I’m sure I’m not the only one?

I was recently introduced to Poipu Beach. It is named ‘America’s Best Beach’ by the Travel Channel. It’s located in Hawaii on the island of Kauai and has mountains on its east side and the open ocean on the west. I bet it is beautiful!

To confirm my desire to want to visit ‘America’s Best Beach’, it was also listed in a new book I just received titled 1,000 Places to See Before You Die. I’m sold! When can I go?

Hubby and I committed to travelling to Hawaii on our 10th wedding anniverary. Well, 3 kids later and living on the other side of the country, that time has passed. I’m not sure when I will get to see Poipu Beach, but it is definitely on my Travel Bucket List and as soon as I can find a way to escape, I will.

Have you visited Hawaii before? Been to Poipu Beach?

  • We've never been to Hawaii either. I've watched a lot of Magnum PI so I feel like I've seen the islands but only through the view of a camera and during the 1980s! I hope you get to decorate your beach house some day.
  • I've never been to Hawaii, but I was pleasantly pleased to hear on TV last week that Dewey Beach, DE was one of the top 10 cleanest beaches in the US. This is the beach my family and I spent all our Summers visiting and where my husband took me to propose on September 16th, 2008. I had once told him that Dewey Beach was the only place I could think of where I only had pleasant memories from my life. I hadn't been there in 25 years, but he flew me there (literally 1/2 way across the country) for just one night because he wanted the perfect proposal spot. How could you not marry a man who would do that. We've been back once since then and we're trying to save up to get back again soon. Airfares are so outrageous right now, that I'm just not sure if we will get back anytime soon.
  • how long have you been married again? Hubby and I are going to try to go back to our honeymoon spot of St. John's (where Trunk Beach is one of the top 10 in the world - or was!). I have 3 years to sign up. And no, not surprised that Coastal Living is one of your fav. mags! :)

Did you hear I live in the mountains now?
