Did you know that?
- Domestic violence is an issue that impacts millions, but few talk about it. Purple Purse helps people carry on conversations and pass information about domestic violence and financial abuse by placing the power directly into people’s hands with a purple purse.
- Domestic violence affects one in four women in their lifetime – that’s more women than breast cancer, ovarian cancer and lung cancer combined.
To help this cause, a really neat campaign is going on. The best part is that YOU can easily help too!
Now in its third year, The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse campaign has pledged to donate up to $350,000 to the YWCA, the nation’s largest provider of domestic violence services, for programs designed at assisting survivors and other women in need.
1,300 purple purses filled with domestic violence information and facts will be distributed throughout the U.S. They each have a code inside and when you go online to purplepurse.com and enter the code, the foundation will donate $5!
I was so excited to get my purple purse today that I immediately went online to do my part. I also typed in my zip code and now I can go back and track where my purple purse went. I have a number of people in mind to give it to tomorrow and I hope they continue to pass it on. Super fun!
Carry on the conversation and pass along the purple purse with information to your friends and family members who will take their turn to log it online and another $5 is donated!
Don’t have a purple purse? You can still help by logging onto Facebook.com/PurplePurse and sharing a virtual purple purse.
Spread the word! I think this is an awesome program and ANYONE can do and it takes 1 minute.
