How often do you clean out toys? Do you find broken pieces, kid meal trinkets and those awful prizes the kids win from game tickets? In other words – junk! I’m sad to say that these all get thrown away a couple of times a year at my house.
I’m super excited to introduce a program that is brand new. Tom’s of Maine is partnering with TerraCycle to keep broken toys out of landfills and made into other useful items like park benches. Yes broken toys into park benches!!
I was able to hear the details first hand from green expert, Sara Snow, the author of Fresh Living: The Essential Room-By-Room Guide to a Greener, Healthier, Family and Home.
Here is her video expaining how the campaign works. Hover over and click play…and yes that is me chatting with her on the phone!
Isn’t this program awesome?! I can not wait to get my box and start filling it up!
Again – check out link TomsofMaine.com/toyrecycling to have the box sent to you. Postage paid for return!
Include in your box – Toys or toy pieces including cards, dice, game boards, packaging from board games, books with sound, handheld electronic games and players, remote control vehicles, electronic stuffed animals, baby toys, building sets, stuffed animals, puzzle pieces, game pieces and action figures.
Return by July 31st and you’ll receive a free upcycled Tom’s of Maine tote!
UPDATED to ADD: All the boxes are gone! It was such a huge success it will probably become an annual event.
I am so excited! I hope you are too!
