Support our Waterways with Tom’s of Maine

This post, Support our Waterways with Tom’s of Maine, is a paid partnership.

I am a water girl. A beach mama. It is where I’d always choose to be.

My story starts on the pond I grew up on in the Midwest. We had a paddle boat in the summer and ice skated in the winter. It is where I learned to fish with my grandpa and where my family and friends gathered on hot nights.

My town also bordered on the Mississippi River. I didn’t realize how cool this was until I left.

When we moved to the South Carolina coast I thought I was in heaven. The ocean everyday if I wanted.

Now that I live in Colorado I don’t get to see the big waters so much, but I still have this lovely pond in our neighborhood that I get to walk around daily.

Tom’s of Maine also believes that water is important. Whether it is conserving it in your home or cleaning it up locally. They have partnered with The Nature Conservancy, the leading conservation organization, and are donating $1,000,000 to help fund projects that restore waterways across the US!* The Let’s Turn the Tide campaign allows everyone to vote for their favorite body of water.

4 projects to vote on are:

The Sustainable Rivers Program – working with the Army Corps of Engineers to better balance what humans and rivers need to survive.

East Coast Dams – freeing miles of river from Maine to Maryland by removing dams and improving habitat connections.

Mississippi River – restoring key floodplains to reduce nutrient pollution in a basin that covers (or drains) 41% of the U.S.

Colorado River – restoring and protecting water supplies for people and nature.

This photo is courtesy of my brother at the Grand Canyon. The headwaters of the Colorado River are just a couple of hours from me here in Colorado and on our bucket list to visit soon for the first time.

What is cool is that ALL 4 will receive funding, but the winner receives extra.
