Probiotics 101 here…what it is, why we use it, and a good product to use for digestive health.
What is probiotics?
According to WebMD it is defined as bacteria that help maintain the natural balance of organisms (microflora) in the intestines. The normal human digestive tract contains about 400 types of probiotic bacteria that reduce the growth of harmful bacteria and promote a healthy digestive health system.
In easy words ~ bacteria that helps support a healthy digestive system.
What are probiotics used for?
A decrease in beneficial bacteria may lead to digestive health problems. Taking probiotics may help replace the lost beneficial bacteria. This can help prevent diarrhea orÂ other infections, such as vaginal yeast and urinary tract infections.
Many others like colon cancer being studied too!
As we age the number of Bifidobacteria may reduce. Diet & stress may also contribute. It is important that we keep our body balanced to keep our optimal health.
Sam’s Club sells a product called Member’s Mark 4X Probiotics that I am going to try to help improve my general health. It can help prevent or reduce the severity of common colds and flu. A Swedish study has shownÂ a group of employees who were given a probiotic supplement missed less work due to respiratory or gastrointestinal illness than did employees who were not given the probiotic.
