Secret Benefits of Cinnamon Coffee
I told Hubby I was going to start putting cinnamon in my coffee. You see, this is a great alternative instead of my usual sugar to still give it a little sweet and spice at the same time. I’m going to share with you the secret of making your coffee even better, plus the healthy benefits of cinnamon in your favorite morning drink including my Cinnamon Coffee recipe.
Benefits of Cinnamon
Lowers Blood Pressure – a sprinkle a day can keep your levels at norm.
Heart Health – reduces both your triglycerides, which is the level of fats in your blood, and your blood sugar which is important to diabetics.
Better Brain Function – enhances cognitive thinking, improves memory and also helps in healing brain cells if swelling!
Improves Digestion – In traditional Chinese medicine (which I’ve been learning more about!) it is used for stomach issues and helps the body to digest foods like fruits and dairy.
Stops Illness – feel a cold coming on? Make some cinnamon tea.
Moods – depression? PMS? the winter blues? A little spice can bring a smile.
Remember though – all cinnamon is not created equal. Many kinds we buy in the store is not ‘real’ cinnamon and is a Cassia variety which contains significant amounts of a compound called coumarin, which is believed to be harmful in large doses. Ceylon cinnamon is called “true” cinnamon. Frontier sells it and you can usually find at Whole Foods and Amazon.

Hubby was flipping through the Ninja coffee cookbook that came with it when he spied something he knew I would want to try. The Cinnamon Graham Latte. I made it for him and then modified it for a healthier recipe for me. Can’t wait to share it with you, but first I want to tell you about this new techy coffee maker.

Choose between FOUR water/coffee concentration. Classic Brew, Rich, Over Ice, Specialty.
Removable Permanent Filter. No paper coffee filters needed! But you can if you want.
Drip Stop. Don’t wait for your coffee to fill up the whole pot when you just want a cup.
More features like Warming Plate, Programmable Times, Intelligent Clean Cycle make this thing so cool.
But the neatest gadget it came with? The frother!!! Look at my yummy coffee drink. I created it right in my kitchen. Why do you need to go to a coffee shop now? You don’t!
Cinnamon Coffee
This is for a single serve cup.
My secret for great coffee – mix the coffee grounds and 1/2t of cinnamon together before inserting into the coffee maker.
Place 1/2t of raw honey into your cup before setting it to brew.
If you have a Ninja Easy Frother then great. Mix 1/4 c of organic whole milk, half & half or whatever you use with 1t of vanilla extract and a ‘nothing artificial’ marshmallow. I used these. Marshmallow topping in a jar may even be easier if you can find one that isn’t junky. Warm in microwave for 30 seconds and use frother!
Top with crushed {cinnamon} graham crackers.
My Healthier Version: No marshmallow froth at the top. Boo. But still great with almond milk mixed in, after the coffee with cinnamon and honey has brewed. Use a cinnamon stick to stir it up. Yum!
