My Journey to Coinstar #NoFeeCoinstar #CBias

Thanks for this Guest Post!

I know this may be hard to believe but I’ve never used a Coinstar machine…..until now. I wasn’t planning on going or using one but I got invited to make a mini road trip to a Bi-Lo where they had one so I decided I would go ahead & go. We collect our coins in a Ratatouille coin bank that we keep in our kitchen that I bought from the Disney Store years ago. I emptied it out, grabbed my kids & were on our way.

The Coinstar was easy to locate. It was right next to the Customer Service desk! 🙂 I felt a little weird because I wasn’t sure if I was going to ask for help since I’ve never used one before but it tells you how to use one on the screen. You put your coins on a tray & tip it over into the machine, which immediately starts counting how much you have. Once it’s done, it gives you an option – cash, gift card or make a donation. Well, I saw with the cash option, they take out a fee so thank you but no thank you.

I saw there was many gift card options but with Bi-Lo having a NO FEE gift card, I just didn’t even have to think twice about it. Some people just can’t afford to get a percentage of their coins taken away, having a no fee card is a great way for people to save up & actually be able to use ALL of their coins to buy their groceries.

I did make a shopping list before I went to the store but I always either lose the list before I get to the store or I always forget I have it with me. With so many temptations, such as these yummy strawberry treats, it was hard to stick to my list. I do believe I bought more than I should have – in addition to my Bi-Lo card, I think I did have to pay a little extra but that was my fault. I just couldn’t help it though. There was so many deals all around me! Oh and did you know that Bi-Lo accepts double coupons every day? Yeah. Don’t walk, run to your nearest Bi0Lo, you won’t regret it.

All in all, it was a fun shopping experience & I loved that it was so easy for me to convert my coins into cash that I could use now. Check out my other pics from my shopping journey!

I walked away with a fun experience & after being on the country roads for so long, I was enlightened & know that one day, I’ll end up living the country life.

If you have the chance, be sure to check out Coinstar on Facebook & Twitter as well as Bi-Lo on Facebook & Twitter. Be sure to check out a Coinstar near you if you have coins piling up. It’s really easy to use, you won’t regret it! 🙂

  • That's fantastic! I hate the idea of an almost 10% fee, almost as much as rolling coins! Fortunately, the teen and pre-teen usually keep my coin jar fairly low ;) So convenient to do this at a store where you already shop :)
  • I haven't used it specifically because of the fee and at the time there weren't any gift cards we needed. Years ago my bank did say they could take all my change and put it in a bank bag. After that they send it out to be counted and then deposited into my account. I did not take them up on that offer though.
  • I think I have been under a rock. I had no idea coin star did this! holy moly! Love the idea since I always hated giving away part of my money for the service! Def going to check a machine near me!
