Ask O’Bear what his favorite superhero is and he’ll say Captain America! Are they excited to see the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier again on DVD? Yes! It came out on September 9th and we headed to Walmart last week to pick up some M&Ms and other decorating supplies to make cupcakes!
We wanted to incorporate his shield mostly and of course the colors red, white and blue! The first step of course is to bake your cupcakes and then gather everything you need. Don’t forget to use the red, white and blue cupcake liners! While I was busy with the setup, I had the boys create M&M figures. They loved this! I wonder though how many went in their mouth compared to the tray.
As my cupcakes were cooling, I dished out my frosting into three bowls where I added food coloring to create my colors. I also separated the blue and red M&Ms for easy access.
Now for the fun part! Decorate! I did the first one and used a little gel piping to help make the shield outline. The blue M&M in the middle was the perfect touch and I thought wow this is simple and cute!
What did the boys say? That is not enough M&Ms! ha! I told them it was their turn. They frosted, placed M&Ms and used their imaginations to make their own red, white and blue Captain America cupcakes. I think they did a fantastic job!
and here are the masterpieces they created…
