Just the other day I was chatting about GMOs with my health conscious brother. He made a good point by saying we need to get to the point where our foods should be labeled only if they contain GMOs, meaning that most foods we eat should just be safe. We shouldn’t have to think twice about what we pull off the shelf. We shouldn’t have to read labels to see what is genetically modified.
Both of us are excited to check out Jeremy Seifert’s critically acclaimed investigation film GMO OMG. We had set up a night to watch it together, but then realized we only had a blu-ray copy and my dad is not up to date on his technology. ha!
Here is a brief glimpse in words: Who controls the future of your food? GMO OMG explores the systematic corporate takeover and potential loss of humanity’s most precious and ancient inheritance: seeds. Director Jeremy Seifert investigates how loss of seed diversity and corresponding laboratory assisted genetic alteration of food affects his young children, the health of our planet, and freedom of choice everywhere. GMO OMG follows one family’s struggle to live and eat without participating in an unhealthy, unjust, and destructive food system.
Here is a 2 minute GMO OMG trailer to check out. Can’t wait to watch the whole thing!
Shopping in grocery stories like Trader Joes and Whole Foods does make me feel better because the majority of food is safe. As we travel this summer we are reminded that not all towns carry these stores and I am forutnate for brands like Nature’s Path that can be found at Target.
Like going out to eat? You know you rarely find healthy food there, but next time you are driving around undecided, check out Chipotle Mexican Grill. Not only do I love resturants like this because you order at the counter (no tip!) and get to place your order to your specifications (and get it fast!). Watch for the mini-video in GMO OMG and how this resturant is ahead of the game.
Win $100 value Non-GMO prize pack that includes healthy organic foods!
