Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer (it’s so easy!)
Have you ever heard of a thermometer like this? An temporal artery thermometer. The kind where you quickly scan the thermometer over your forehead and it instantly takes your temperature?! It’s so cool!
I was first introduced to them last year when Hubby got one for this chiro practice (more on this later!) and it never even dawned on me that I needed one at home! Duh! So I was super happy that Exergen let me try out theirs.
Are you still asking…WHAT? Ok, let me show you how it works! Only a video can do that…
Is that not the coolest, fastest, slickest way to take a temperature you ever saw?
I’m sure you have a lot of questions. But the first is probably How Does It Do That?
With a gentle stroke of the forehead it captures the naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery, taking 1,000 readings per second, selecting the most accurate. With its patented Arterial Heat Balancesystem the TemporalScanner measures ambient temperatures, mathematically replaces the small temperature loss from cooling at the skin, and displays an accurate arterial temperature.
Arterial temperature is the same temperature as the blood flowing from the heart. It is the best determinate of body temperature.
Are you excited as I am to find that taking your child’s temperature is now fast and easy? And most important – extremely accurate. It is proven to be more accurate than the rectal and ear thermometers!
Here is an extra tidbit of information if you are interested. Hubby uses this scanner for a whole different reason. He uses it on infants at his chiropractic practice to help determine if they need to be adjusted on that visit.
These are his words. I told him to talk simple so we can understand! He tends to get “all medical” on me
I measure the skin temperature of the atlas fossa (area behind jaw and under ear). The body should have symmetry from side to side meaning the temperature should be relatively the same on both sides. In the event of an upper neck, atlas, misalignment the body will show significant skin temperature differences from 1 side to the other. This is due to the direct correlation between the autonomic nervous system, blood flow and skin temperature. This allows me to make a better decision on whether an infant has a misalignment and should be given an adjustment.
Very interesting huh?
You can buy one on Amazon for less than $30!
Good Luck!
Exergen sent me a temporal scanner for this review but I was not compensated in any way for the post and all opinions are my own.
