Empowering Women Together ~ Walmart Supports Women Small Business

We have talked a lot on this blog about women-owned businesses. Most of the time, I am chatting about small, one women shops who work hard to get their name out there. Today I’m excited to share with you how Walmart is helping them go BIG.

Walmart had announced the launch of Empowering Women Together, a dedicated online section of the Walmart website, that gives shoppers who want to buy unique and interesting products the opportunity to do so while supporting small women-owned businesses around the world.

Each time you make a purchase you are Empowering these women. Making them believe in themselves and helping out their families.

You will find more than 200 items from 19 businesses in nine countries! Jewelry, home accessories, paper mache, clothing, even specialty foods from coffee to chocolate! They come from Peru, Rwanda, Kenya, Haiti, Cambodia, Nepal, Canada, and the U.S.!

Can I show you some of my favorite items?

Felt Flower Tote Bag made with all-natural fabrics. So cute!

Company started by 2 friends who now employ 100 female artisans to help economic opportunity for women in Nepal.

Organic Coconut Almond Creme made with Rainforest Alliance Certified Chocolate. Yum!

Hidden within every recycled package of chocolate from Full Circle Exchange, is an amazing chain of events resulting in fair wages, improved work conditions, and respect for the environment from which it was produced.

In my Ocean book

Having been an art director for children’s books, Sara Gillingham was very familiar with what goes into creating innovative content for little ones. Inspired by her own children, Sara opened her own design studio and started creating a line of her own.

I ordered this book as soon as I saw it! At $5.55 and free site-to-store shipping I couldn’t resist for the Easter Basket.

There is a whole series!

Empowering Women Together is an element of Walmart’s Global Women’s Economic 5-year commitment through 2016 to source $20 billion from women-owned businesses.
