Bamboo & Jute Rugs at 1001 Shops

We don’t currently have hardwood floors in our home so I don’t have any large sized rugs, but since baby has come along and started throwing food onto the floor when he’s finished eating I need a rug. Badly.

A bamboo rug would be great! 80% bamboo and 20% cotton is the right mix for that hard wood to give it a soft feel. Bamboo is naturally hypo-allergenic and really doesn’t shed the way traditional rugs do. What a great way to make my dining area more baby friendly but at the same time keeping my home green with beautiful accessories.

Have you heard of the jute rug? I haven’t but I was eager to learn that it is another eco-friendly material. It is a vegetable fiber that is grown without the need of pesticides and then spun into strong threads. It’s known for it’s durablity and would be perfect for areas of the house with a good amount of foot traffic. I definitely need one of these too! 🙂

  • I like these natural rugs. You just have to be careful to put a rug liner or something under them if you have hardwood, in case it scratches the floor - we had that happen to us big time!!! Sometimes they are already backed with a soft liner though. I think these kinds of rugs look so BEACHY though!!! :)
