AppleCheeks Cloth Diaper

I have to admit that I always shied away from AppleCheeks. Not because I’ve heard negative reviews, quite the opposite in fact, but because they looked kind of “girly” to me. Now this is me just seeing them over the computer. Not in real life.

Every time the question was asked ‘What is your favorite diaper?’ AppleCheeks was always among the favorites. Then I talked to multiple friends with just boys who LOVE these diapers and so I wanted to give them a try too!

My yellow Lemon Zest came in the mail. How bright and cheery! The first thing I noticed, or I should say felt, how lightweight it was! The description reads an outer layer of breathable, waterproof PUL, sewn to a butter soft microfleece inner layer.

A couple of more things surprised me…boy was I out of the loop when it came to these diapers…they have a great opening in the middle, envelope style, it’s called. No need to pull out a stinky insert because it comes out in the wash. I think I like this!

Second, the insert looked like a smaller prefold. Two layers of ultra-soft 70% rayon from bamboo/30% organic cotton fleece give you the ultimate in comfort and absorbency! You can fold it into thirds and just lay it inside the cover. No stuffing if you don’t want!

Also included in my package were disposable liners! Gosh I was getting introduced to a lot of new things! Just lay them on top the cover and later flush away the mess! Perfect for when you are out and about!

AppleCheeks also sells different inserts and boosters made of bamboo, rayon, organic cotton ~ whatever you like to fit your needs!

I’ve tried the diaper both ways. Tucking the insert inside the envelope is nice because I feel like I can stuff more in there, but I love the idea of just laying it on top the shell too. Then I can use the cover over and over and over until it needs a wash!

Here is my little guy in his new diaper. It was hard chasing him around the room with his shopping cart!

The leg openings, which is what always seemed “girly” to me, are very snug and wrap around his little thighs beautifully.

Hubby says ‘Dear, it just looks like a cute cloth diaper to me” and I have to agree 🙂
