Our Favorite Myrtle Beach Family Activities

|

It’s been almost seven years since we left South Carolina. My beach baby was only four and has a hard time remembering where he was born. This was the two of us last week. Can you see how happy we were to be back on the SC coast? A Myrtle Beach family vacation is the best! I tell everyone they have the best beaches and when your toes hit the soft, clean, sand, you will agree.

What are our favorite Myrtle Beach family activities? Medieval Times, Broadway at the Beach (including Simpsons 4D and WonderWorks), Barefoot Landing, Mini Golf, and of course the Beach.

Myrtle Beach Family Fun Activities

Though we lived most of our years in the Charleston area, Myrtle Beach is where we started . After we moved the two hours south we would continue to road trip back up the coast many times a year. Why? Because Myrtle Beach is SO fun! There are endless family fun activities. Let me tell you about a few of them.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

Ask my family what their favorite part of vacation was and most of them will say our night at Medieval Times. Head to the castle and have a 4-course dinner served to you as you watch the knights compete for the championship. You’ll be eating medieval style – no silverware, but don’t worry they will provide plenty of napkins! The color and area of the arena you are sitting in is the knight you’ll be cheering for. You can’t help but smile as he competes for the title with sword play, duels, and jousting. Oh, and the horses are wonderful too!

Broadway at the Beach

A must have stop every time we visit Myrtle Beach. The shops, the food, the rides, and of course the people watching. This time we stopped at The Simpsons in 4D which showed two, cute 4D short features of the Simpson family. I think I laughed the entire time as water squirted at me, the chair moved, and I could feel rats (ha!) scurrying under my seat. After the movie we headed to the Kwik-E-Mart for Buzz Cola, a Lard Lad Donut, and a Squishee!

WonderWorks is also at Broadway at the Beach and once you see the outside….you’ll want to go inside.

Isn’t it fun? They call it having ‘edu-tainment’ because inside is over 100 hands-on exhibits that combine science with simulations for you to do. It is three level museum-arcade-indoor theme park. For example. you can be in a hurricane (tie down your hair!) or lay on a bed of nails (it doesn’t hurt!) or ride in a roller coaster (yes!). There are endless activities that could take you all afternoon. Warning to Parents: it could be the perfect time to drop the kids who are over 14 off while you shop and enjoy a moment to yourself. It can be loud and crowded, which the kids don’t mind right?

Mini Golf

One of our favorite family activities to do together is mini golf and Myrtle Beach has the best! We played twice and guess who won both times? Me of course! We played at Shipwreck Island and Jungle Safari – both which are themed to their name. Golfing around pirate ships and jungle animals makes the game all the more fun.

Barefoot Landing

Another favorite spot to hang out at is Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach. It was great to see what was added since we were last there and one new addition was LuLu’s. When you’re hungry and want to escape the hot sun head to LuLu’s for seafood. They have a lot more than seafood, but the big platter was what Hubby and I shared. Yum! The best part? The whole restaurant opened up in the back for an outside feel. We sat on the porch which overlooked the Intercoastal Waterway. Our conversation of the night was which boat in the harbor we wanted to be ours! Live music and fantastic atmosphere made LuLu’s the perfect stop.
