DIY Kids Wrapping Party

The outside lights are put up, the Christmas tree will be bought this week and now it is time to think about wrapping all the gifts. I’m going to admit that wrapping is not my favorite thing to do. How do I get by this? I engage the kids to help and make a party out of it!

We picked a Saturday afternoon for our wrapping party and headed out to Walmart that morning to pick up what we needed. Snacks of course (duh! not a party without food!) and wrapping supplies which were found in the Holiday Section of the store.

At home we gathered White Drawing Paper in a Roll, Stickers, Washi Tape, Markers, Crayons, Bows and Ribbon. Feel free to get creative and use what you have laying around. The older boys were content using the wrapping paper they picked out (though I insisted they personalize in some way with the name label), but P’Diddy wanted to DIY the whole gift.

The white paper on the easel roll was perfect for this project. He could draw multiple pictures – in this case Christmas Trees – and then we cut each section out to fit our gift. Decorate with stickers and/or ribbon and you have the cutest gift possible. The grandparents will ohhh and ahhhh.

How to Wrap with Kids

I cut the paper to be the exact size it needs. The wrapping paper with squares on the back is great for them too because you can teach them how to count the lines so it is even on both sides.

We peel pieces of tape ahead of time and line them up so they are ready to grab.

Stick a piece of tape or two after you fold the paper around the gift and then another piece or two per end after you’ve folded the corners in, depending on the size of the gift.

With everyone pitching in you will have all your wrapping done in no time!
