WhiteWater Rafting in Colorado
It has been a goal for us for many years now to go whitewater rafting. We meant to do it when we lived on the east coast and never made it. Well now we definitely live in prime location and whitewater rafting in Colorado is a must when you are here!
We traveled two and a half hours to Buena Vista, which was a beautiful drive to a town completely surrounded by peaks.
Our destination was Browns Canyon – the most rafted strip in the world!
I was a little nervous. Ok maybe a lot. We arrived at American Adventure Expedition, our guides for the next few hours and their friendly greetings immediately put me at ease. We were fitted for a wetsuit, booties and jacket as the water temps were only at 35 degrees from snow run-offs, though it was a very warm day.

Our bus carted us a few miles to the canyon drop off. I was ready!
We brought C’Man with us who is always ready for the next adventure. He kept telling me, mom I’m going to fall in. I said a little prayer. LOL. In fact, no one in our raft did (but someone in our group of rafts did and he was fine. The guides are experts.) and I think he was so disappointed that he didn’t fall in at one point he did jump out (with the guide’s permission!) and did a little swim next to the raft.
We loooooooved it. The paddling, the fun dips and turns, and the beautiful canyon scenery in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. We can’t wait to do it again!
American Adventure Expeditions was awesome. Our guide was fantastic. He knew everything about the area and he steered the boat so well I think he could have done it with his eyes closed if he wasn’t watching out for boulders in the water. We paddled just enough to make it fun, but not to wear us out.
I highly recommend whitewater rafting in Colorado!

I partnered with US Family Guide and American Adventure Expeditions for this trip. All opinions are my own.
