After School Arla Dofino Cheese & Fruit Snack

| |

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Arla Dofino. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

As we were preparing the boys after school snack I couldn’t help but snitch. Cheese glorious cheese. Not just your everyday run of the mill kind of cheese though. I was eating what I would call gourmet cheese. It was Arla Dofino’s Smoked Gouda with Cracked Peppercorn. oh la la!

Arla Dofino Smoked Gouda with Cracked Peppercorn

We paired it with pita crackers and grapes. The first thing I thought of was of course yum! But then I thought about how easy this snack is. Do you keep prepared snacks ready to go in the fridge? One of the best time saving tips I have about food is cutting and prepping fruits and veggies as soon as they come home from the grocery store. I find that when we can reach in and grab them already prepared, we are more likely to eat them then if we have to take the time out to cut.

I never really thought about this prepping idea with cheese until our Arla Dofino snack time. Cutting thin slices of cheeses to have ready for the kids when they come from school is genius. There is always a kid in our house that doesn’t like something, but I can’t say that about cheese.

We don’t just buy any cheese though. Arla Dofino cheeses are naturally good, free of added hormones and crafted with quality, natural ingredients in an environmentally friendly way.

See these smiles? That is what I like to see. I love when they come home and tell me about their day while munching on something good to eat. These care free moments are rare because soon after out comes the homework, sports practices, video games and friends. This is mommy time.

Growing up just a few hours from Wisconsin, I know the significance of this statement – Arla Dofino cheeses have been traditionally crafted in Kaukauna, Wisconsin for more than 100 years. There is nothing better than Wisconsin cheese!

You will find they make five types of cheese: Havarti, Gouda, Fontina, Edam and Muenster and they do come in flavors like my Cracked Peppercorn, Chipotle (which I’m grabbing next!), Chili with Lime, Caraway, Jalapeno and so many more. Do I have you drooling yet?

Here is a recipe directly from the Arla Dofino site. Next time I’ll surprise the boys and have our mini cookie cutters ready!

Fruit & Cheese Skewers

Fruit & Cheese Skewers

From The Naptime Chef, Kelsey Banfield

4 skewers
1 8 oz. chunk of Arla Dofino Creamy Havarti cheese, cubed or cut into shapes (also try Havarti
with Jalapeno for a spicy kick) for 8 total pieces
8 – 10 purple or green grapes
4 – 6 strawberries
1 kiwi
Other fruits you could add:
Apple slices
Banana slices
Pear slices
Instructions:
1. Cut the Arla Dofino Creamy Havarti cheese into 8 cubes. To make snack time more fun
and kid-friendly, try using small shape cutters to cut out the Havarti into hearts or stars.
2. Spear the strawberries, grapes and kiwi on the skewer, alternating with cheese cubes,
until the skewer is full.
3. Be sure to leave about one inch on either end of the skewer for easy handling. Cut off
the sharp tips before adding to a lunch box.
