10 Uses for Coconut Oil
Many people pull out the olive oil to grease their pan as it gets hot. Is olive oil the best oil to use for cooking? I’m going to share why coconut oil is better.
Why coconut oil is perfect to cook with, it has an abundance of other uses that you may not have even thought of too. There are actually tons of ideas! Hundreds really. I’ve complied my 10 favorite uses for coconut oil and they don’t all involve cooking. You’ll be surprised by some of these I think.
Why Not to Cook With Olive Oil
Don’t use olive oil when cooking with high temperatures. It’s a healthy oil to eat when you use it cold – like in salads or sauces. When you are frying on the stove, use coconut oil. Why?
Olive oil has a low smoking point. The beneficial compounds in the oil will start to degrade and can create potentially carcinogenic toxins.
What Coconut Oil to Use
Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid and is a proven antiviral and immune system builder. Most importantly, it is safe to use in hot temps!
However, most commercial coconut oils are refined, bleached, deodorized and contain chemicals used in processing.
Look for certified organic, non GMO, no bleaching, no deodorizing, no refining or no hydrogenation.
