My December Projects

| | |

December has been a busy month for me! I wanted to get crafty this month with some fun and easy DIY projects I could do with the kids, including baking. What better place to show off what we created then my blog. Want to see?

As I was window shopping on Etsy last month I saw this beautiful Christmas creation of the very special O Holy Night that I knew would look wonderful on my mantel. I had to make it! I bought the vinyl stickers and headed to Home Depot for a piece of wood and some spray paint.

Melting Snowman Cookies. P’Diddy wants snow! We’ve read many snow stories in our preschool homeschool this year and when you asked him what he wanted to for Christmas he would either tell you a big dump truck or that he wanted it to snow. Poor kid! We had a neighbor who had a melting snowman decoration in their yard and he loved it. Saw this idea online somewhere (maybe Pinterest where they are now pinned) and knew he and I had to make them this year. They’ve been a hit!

Melting Snowman CookiesI also had our ‘healthy’ gluten free cookie with my favorite flavor of the season. Mint Chocolate Chip Balls.

This Pine Cone Christmas Tree picture didn’t turn out the best but these were so easy and fun to make! The kids loved placing the fuzz balls throughout the cone. Next time I will buy more colors and more sizes of balls at the craft store because I don’t think there is enough on each one. My favorite part is the cinnamon scent of the decorative pine cones. These were fun little side gifts and we used them as at each table setting on Christmas!

For Christmas gifts this year I made Wool Dryer Balls which I showed you on a blog a couple of weeks ago. These were SO easy and can done in one hour! Perfect handmade and green stocking stuffer!

I also made Starfish Salt Dough Ornamets to give out as gifts, but let me tell you I did not have beginnger’s luck. I made them too thin and all the arms kept breaking off. I’m going to attempt them again and make them thicker! Love these for decoration at my house and going to string a row of them with twine.

For the past three or four years the boys have done Gingerbread Houses. My favorite kit is from King Arthur Flour where everything is ready to assemble. Super fun for all of us!

Our last project we just completed this weekend was Frosted Sugar Cookies. I remember decorating them every year with my mom and we try to do the same. We made them just in time for grandpa to visit. He’ll be so excited!

“Can I eat them all mom?”

P’Diddy also Painted Cross Ornamets for his teacher gifts at church and I forgot to take a pic! So upset and so not like me. 🙂
