Making Memories in the Backyard

I celebrated my first Mother’s Day in our new house. It was the start of our family making memories in the backyard. I know I’ve told you about our new yard. It’s amazing! Mature trees for shade, a tall fence to keep the dog contained (the last house he jumped over it!), a garden where strawberries are already popping out, a large deck for grilling and chilling, pretty flowers blooming, curly vines running up the pergola and lots of great plants.

Best of all, space for my sports loving boys to play ball.

We had my brothers over that Sunday evening to test out the grill the previous owners left for us. We were cooking up steak kabobs, chicken fajitas, corn on the cob, plus burgers for the boys. Hubby made his famous dip that was gone before we could believe.

Ice cream cones for dessert.

The kids got out the football to play catch, the water guns to get everyone wet, set up a tournament with the bocce balls, had a wrestling match right in the yard and beat us all in Uno.

Oh and I can’t forget the countless minutes that were spent swinging in the hammock.

It was a night of fun and laughter, making memories in the backyard.

TruGreen believes that life should be spent outdoors and I have to agree. We sit on our deck in the evenings marveling at the nature that God gave to us. Green grass, bright flowers, birds chirping. There is nothing more relaxing than taking it all in.

A new survey conducted by Harris Poll on behalf of TruGreen finds that nearly two thirds of Americans report that some of their favorite memories have occurred right in their own yards. I believe it! I had a wonderful yard as a kid. My dad still lives there and my children ache to go in the summertimes, just so they can run around and fish in the pond.

On the next beautiful night you have free on your calendar, invite over a few family or friends, pull out the grill, gather some family-friendly activities and enjoy making memories in the backyard too. They last a lifetime!
