How are you Maintaining Good Health?

| |

I went to my yearly checkup recently and stepped on a scale. Wow. I called Hubby when I left and asked him How can I weigh what I do? Even my blood pressure was a tad high.

What upsets me the most is that I have been thinking about health a lot lately. Apparently, thinking and doing are two different things!

What am I doing to maintain good health? My roles have become even more stricter.

Eat right. 90% of my shopping is done at Trader Joes. I don’t buy anything with high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, hormones, etc. My meat is grass fed and/or organic. What I tend to forget is just because food is healthier for the body doesn’t mean it is less fat. There are still calories in my Chocolate Almond Spread. I also eat a lot of breads, aka sugars.

Exercise. I go through ups and downs. I am very good for a few weeks then I completely back off. This hot, muggy summer did nothing for my body. Hubby tries to push Crossfit on me, as he has become an exercise addict. What I did though was download the couch to 5K app on my phone. I love how it tells me what to do! Also, meeting up with a friend weekly to walk our gorgeous bridge with views of the ocean. Accountability definitely helps!

Chiropractic Care. A must at our house. Hubby believes chiropractic can help any issue and keep you in top notch health!

Vitamins. Another area I do well with when I have the vitamins in the house, but when they are gone…well they don’t get re-stocked so fast. Bad bad. My newest supplement is Provella, a probiotic. Let me tell you more about it.

Provella helps promote digestive, feminine, and immune health.

Most probiotics contain good bacteria similar to those found naturally in the human body. The mixture of good bacteria regularly found at an anatomical site is referred to as the “normal flora.” In women, the normal flora can be easily disrupted by many factors including:

  • Antibiotic use
  • Changes in hormone levels
  • Spermicides
  • Diet
It has been estimated that as few as 20%-40% of certain probiotic bacteria survive passage through the gut. A major threat to probiotic bacteria is stomach acid. However, Provella  is formulated using a patented controlled-release technology that helps protect probiotics from harsh stomach acid and is designed to ensure that live organisms reach the intestines.
