DIY Beeswax Candle Making Kit for Kids

I am always looking for new ideas when it comes to projects with the kids. This craft is awesome because it makes a great gift! Check out this DIY Beeswax Candle Making Kit for Kids.

I was honored to feature A Toy Garden on the blog early last year to show off their Herbal Play Bean Bags, which are handmade with beans and organic herbs. They are lovely!

Both of these items are perfect for Keeping Your Kids Creative…but to be honest with you her entire store is FILLED with toys, games, and crafts to keep your child busy for hours…days. Many are Fair Trade or Made in the USA. You’ll find Organic Toys. And many that are Hand Made With Love.

It is a hard decision on what I wanted to show off today. I told Sonya, the owner, that I have an 8 year old boy who loves crafts, but at the same time he gets frustrated if they are too hard or too long and doesn’t exactly have the best creative gene if you know what I mean.

She recommended the Beeswax Candle Making Kit in her store.

Comes with 12 sheets of 100% honeycombed beeswax in a variety of colors, 4 yards of cotton wick, and instructions.

We were both a little nervous to begin, but I was so surprised at how easy it really is! Basically you just roll the wick up in the beeswax. Very simple and you could start this project at a young age.

The grin on his face of accomplishment was priceless. He was making candles!

DIY Beeswax Candle Making Kit for KidsAfter the first one we got more bold. We started to use a variety of colors at the same time. You can also get out the scissors to make them shorter or thinner or whatever you want!

We also received the Stockmar Decorating Wax and this is where our creative juices really got flowing. Strips of wax that can be cut and shaped into anything! I pulled out a couple of stencil sheets I had and used my x-acto knife to mold our candles into a work of art.

As I was working along side O’Bear I really got to thinking. These would make the best holiday gifts! Can’t you see it? We’d put a cross on our Sunday school teacher’s candle. A pencil and apple on our school teachers. Hearts for grandparents. My mind was reeling on who wouldn’t love a handmade candle crafted by the kids?

So easy and soooo FuN!

Are you ready to make candles?
