Celebrate Earth Day with BBC & DVD Collection Giveaway ~ 2 Winners!

Are you a Discovery Channel watcher? Did you see the latest movie Frozen Planet?

A few weeks my family was able to view the movie before it was even on tv AND I got to do a live chat with the producer, Vanessa Berlowitz ~  a mom just like us – who spent time away from her little one to film it.

One question I asked her was if she was ever in real danger while filming. She replied…

Yes. There is inevitable risk when you’re filming a series like this. One of my specialist areas is aerial directing. Part of the reason that it’s dangerous to film in the Arctic is because you get hurricane force winds. The weather can change from being sunny one minute to stormy the next. I got caught in winds when our helicopter got thrown around, and I felt like a piece of clothing in a tumble dryer. There was another moment where we were trying to hover over a waterfall in Greenland that was plunging a mile down into the ice and the cold air sucked our helicopter in. Thankfully, we worked with one of the best pilots in the world, and he was able to pull us out of the situation, but it was definitely touch and go.

The orca whale sequence is amazing! They just posted a clip to their Facebook page today to see!

Be sure to watch Frozen Planet on Discovery or on DVD April 17th ~ your kids will love it too!

I also want to share with you a chance to win a trip of a lifetime…The Ultimate Polar Bear Adventure.

Two pairs of lucky winners (one in the US and one in Canada) will receive a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to observe these magnificent, endangered polar bears up close as well as discover the rich human and natural history of Manitoba, Canada.
